 ABORIGINAL PARTICIPATION IN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
Building Authentic Partnerships - Public Policy Forum Roundtables
This report synthesizes the results of six roundtable discussions with leaders from First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities along with executives from the Canadian resources, legal and financial sectors, university and college executives and senior government officials. The regional dialogues were held between May and August, 2012, with the support and leadership of Michael Wernick, Deputy Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC). Engagement with four federal departments contributed to this collaborative effort. For that, I also thank Serge Dupont, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources Canada, Patrick Borbey, President of the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency, and Ian Shugart, Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada. The teams of each of these departments, led by the exceptional efforts of AANDC Director General Allan Clarke and Senior Policy Manager Danielle Bélanger, provided invaluable research and guidance.

 REPORTS ON THE NUNAVUT ECONOMY
2008 NUNAVUT ECONOMIC OUTLOOK
Subtitled “Our Future to Choose”, the 2008 Nunavut Economic Outlook is the fourth instalment in a series that began in 2001 and has been used as an information source in the development of the Nunavut Economic Development Strategy (Strategy) and in monitoring progress in the implementation of the Strategy. The NEF commissioned the report prepared by Impact Economics, an economics consulting firm whose principal, Graeme Clinton, was chief economist with the Conference Board of Canada and was the primary author of the first Outlook in 2001, the Nunavut Economic Development Strategy in 2003 and the 2005 Outlook.
The Nunavut Economic Forum planned for the production and release of the 2008 Outlook to precede the convening of the Sivummut III Economic Development Conference, to be held in February 2009. The release was delayed slightly as the NEF considered the implications of the economic turmoil of the last few months and the impact on the Outlook.

Government of Nunavut's Transportation Strategy
The 2001 Nunavut Transportation Strategy was the first comprehensive study to focus exclusively on transportation in an area that had previously been
considered only in the context of the Northwest Territories. It was a highly detailed document, comprised of a Vision, a Technical Document and several Appendices of data.
Following seven years, Ingirrasiliqta is anchored in the original strategy, but attempts a much narrower focus. Through taking into account the improvements we have made to date, the lessons we have learned, and the continuing dialogue since
publication of the first strategy, this document contains specific actions that the Government of Nunavut intends to take to improve our lives and enable our economic growth.
